End of Life

As many people consider their pets as part of the family, the loss of a beloved pet companion can be an especially heartbreaking experience. Our compassionate staff are here to support both you and your pet during this difficult time.

Victor Valley Animal Protective League provides end-of-life euthanasia services at a reduced price for pet owners.  Owners are not able to be present during the service. Rest assured that our highly trained and compassionate staff will offer your pet the most humane service possible.

Owner-Requested Euthanasia

When the quality of your pet’s life has seriously deteriorated due to old age, severe injury, or a debilitating illness, you may decide humane euthanasia is the most compassionate option to alleviate pain and suffering. We do recommend you work with your veterinarian (if possible), to receive guidance on the timing of end-of-life care.  We also suggest going to a veterinarian office if you want to be present for your pet’s euthanasia process, as our shelter does not provide this option at this time.

Please note, we reserve the right to refuse euthanasia for any animal whose health condition and/or pet ownership cannot be verified.

Euthanasia Services are by Apointment Only, unless it is an emergency situation.

  • Guardians releasing an animal for euthanasia will need to provide personal identification, proof of ownership, and supporting information of the medical or behavioral condition.

  • We reserve the right to refuse euthanasia service if guardianship or a medical/behavioral condition cannot be confirmed. We will NOT euthanize any healthy or treatable pet.

  • We cannot euthanize a pet if it has bitten or scratched someone within the last 10 days. If your pet has bitten or scratched a person breaking the skin within the last 10 days, by law, you must notify your local animal control services.

Owners are not able to be present during the service. Rest assured that our highly trained and compassionate staff will offer your pet the most humane service possible.
